JIM ORR With sadness we announce the passing of Jim Orr on September 30, 2015 at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). Jim was loved by his mom, Joyce Bullman and stepfather Gerry Bullman. He will also be dearly missed by his brother Kevin (Barb and children Nicholas and Jaime) and his best friend and former wife Sonya (Mike). Jim was predeceased by his father Jim Orr when he was a young boy. Jim was a very proud retired firefighter, having served with the West Vancouver Fire Department for over 25 years. He will be missed and fondly remembered by present and retired members of the Department, especially those who served at "Camp Jimmy". Jim was a well-respected Captain with the Fire Service and was highly regarded as an instructor and mentor. When asked about his role as a Firefighter, Jim commented that helping new recruits understand the importance of their work was one of his greatest pleasures. Jim loved to travel and was an avid golfer. He spent many good times with his friends and work mates on a golf course or at a sunny destination somewhere in the world. Jim was also a fitness buff, which set an excellent example for all those at the fire hall. Jim was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and loved spending his adult life in Vancouver on the BC coast. Jim's family would like to thank his friends, especially Sonya, the firefighter buddies and other close friends and the special staff at VGH, who stood by Jim through his years of struggle with depression and alcohol. Their unwavering support was rewarded this year when Jim got on top of the disease. Jim was very proud of being alcohol-free in 2015 and celebrated getting his life back by going on a cruise for his 60th birthday. In lieu of flowers, a quiet thought for Jim and special nod to all First Responders, would be appreciated. Donations to the VGH Foundation's new Mental Health Centre are also welcomed. A celebration of life is planned on Wednesday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gleneagles Golf Course, 6190 Marine Drive, West Vancouver.

I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing. Thanks for the opportunity to write a note, as Jim was a great friend of Peter Harris and me and, in fact,Jim stood up for us at our wedding at the Fort Garry Hotel in 1975. Blue was his colour and the tux accentuated his fair hair and golfer's tan. I loved the pics and Peter and I have fond memories of that beautiful day. Jim always held a special place in our hearts and we were so proud to be updated with his career accomplishments even though we had not been in touch for a long while. My parents are Helen and Glen McBride on Kenneth Street and deepest condolences are sent to you, Joyce and Gerry, on their behalf. Also, please pass on our deepest sympathy to all the family. Sincerely, Brucie xoxo - Posted by: Brucie Kusmack (Harris/McBride) (Fort Garry Friend) on: Oct 07, 2015

Dear Joyce and Gerry, our sincerest sympathies. If it's ok with you we would like to make our donation to the V.G.H. Winnipeg in memory of Jim, and because our daughter-in-law Marnie Foreman passed away there at age 46 on October 29th. That was Brian's wife. - Posted by: Ted and Lynne Foreman (friend) on: Oct 06, 2015
